Days 10, 11, 12, 13

On Monday night, we went to a local Tico bar called El Cuartel in San Jose that featured a live band called Marfil, who we didn't realize was kind of famous until the next day (though that did explain the gigantic crowd).
The band originated on the Carribean side of the country, so it has serious Jamaican influences included Reggae rythyms. They have toured all over Latin America, North America and Europe.
They are an eight piece band that has a lot of energy and plays really cool stuff, keeping the crowd there dancing all night to reggae, salsa, bachata, meringe, etc.

On Tuesday night, we went to an old vintage house full of antiques that is now a bar, which was very, very cool. They played a mix of pop music and dance music, and we got to meet a lot of Ticos there. The people were very friendly, always willing to have a conversation. They were also willing to help me with my Spanish and were generally patient when I was searching my head for words and speaking slowly.

On Wednesday, we went to the open-air market in town, which sells a variety of things and even has its own cafe inside.

On Thursday, I stayed in and studied for my exam on Friday and went to tropical dance class (:
